  About Nanital
  Nainital District is aptly called the "lake district". Nainital being , one of the three largest lakes here it is also called Tri-Risi-Sarovar and resembles silvery disc held in cupped. The presiding deity here is the goddess Naina Devi who is much reverd by the hill folks and from where the place has derived its name.Today Nainital has developed into one of the most popular resorts, far beyond the summer retreat the british settlers had originally planned.It has the advantages of year round activities to suit thediverse taste of a wide range of tourists

Among them are:-Naina Peak(2611mt.) 6 kms, is the highest and can be reached by an easy trek: Snow View(2270 mt.) 2.5 kms is th mostpopular peak which is also accessiable by a rope way carriage from the mall. From the top one has an excellent view of the snow peaks of north Himalayas: Lands End(2118 mt) 4 kms is the other popular point around the lake known for beautiful sunset.

  HANUMAN GARHI:- 3 km, A relegious center (1951 mts) built by a famous saint, Neem Karauli Baba, is dedicated to Hanuman and contains a 12 feet tall image of the deity.

  KILLBURY:- 10 kms, part of the reserve forest range. It is known for its varied flora and fauna. Killbury is accesible by road and also have a forest rest house
  KHURPATAL:- 10 kms, one of the smaller lake around Nainital and favourite haunt for anglers and picnicers, it can also reached by 6 km trek along a gently ascending jungle track.
  LAKE TOUR
  (Bhimtal, Naukucihiyatal, Sat-tal) all these three places are within the circumference of 10 kms, and are known for their beautiful lakes. Lake in Bhimtal is the biggest, with a small but beautiful island in it. Naukucihiyatal, has a lake with nine corners and Sat-tal has seven lakes interconnected with each other. For an ideal picnicer lake tour is best
